Week 5 (FEB 09)

Minor issues

So this week was about fixing minor issues in my level. I've got some feedback from my classmates and after a short discussion about applications and some mistakes we all did in the past, I decided to change some of my meshes to avoid lighting issues and other problems. You work smart, not hard, right?


A quick sketch...

The base of my level is roughly finished, so I need to start to populate it with some assets. I did a quick block-out of a robot arm and placed it in my level. I drew a quick sketch of my robot based on the skeleton of a human and started modeling.


Modeling...

I started modeling my "Product" as I'm calling it. I got some reference images and started with a block-out. The head of the robot is pretty obvious human skull, but the rest of it will be metal plates, screws and wires. I need to model several parts separately and try to make a mini production line as quickly as I can. I should test some animations as well.




Production line

I looked at BWM, Tesla's and Mercedes-Benz production lines and it's just fascinating how those huge robot arms pick up parts and weld them together. I will try to represent all that on my level by doing good assets and enhancing it with animation and sound effects.
