Week 3 (JAN 26)

 

Keep looking back

I keep getting back to my old project. I was really happy about my project "Behind the door". I finished it but had a bit of trouble exporting good quality video and uploading it to youtube, so I spent a couple days working on an old project.

Now, when the HQ video is on my Youtube channel and Artstation, I can proudly show it to everyone and I can leave it alone. 

Sattelite view

So I set some cameras on my level to keep track of my progress. Here you can see the top view of my project. The white part is the warehouse. It requires accuracy to build something that looks real and functioning. I've made some parts and now I am trying to build 8x8m section and then I will duplicate it around 4-8 times.

Framework

So far, it is so satisfying for me to build all of this! I'm trying to make everything clean and symmetrical. I made my meshes 2,4 or 8 metres long, so everything is getting along pretty well. Here you can see a quick screenshot of the entrance of the warehouse area with and without metal sheet walls.

 

First section 8x8m

This is a very rough first section I've created. The player will enter the warehouse area through the double doors in the middle. I am planning to build a really open space, but this section will have floors. 2nd and even 3rd, which will be the Chief's office with a great view of all the production line and warehouse.

Other areas

The other areas will be really open, as I mentioned before. All the magic will happen here. The robotic arms and other machinery will be operating here and the area will be super busy, that is why I need to leave as much space as I can. The upper area will be filled with metal meshes holding various wires. Near the roof, there will be a ventilation and water system.

Duplicating

Once I finish those 8x8m sections, I will quickly duplicate them and will start the ventilation system, water pipes, and hanging lights. The warehouse will be finished quickly and I will jump into modeling the robot assembly line.

That is it for this week. I will bring more exciting updates next week because I will work full power on this project.
